Dental Hygiene

Cleanings

We provide annual cleanings as well as three to six month recall cleaning appointments for our Periodontal patients. We also provide oral hygiene instructions and nutritional counseling to our patients during theses visits.

Sealants

We place tooth colored sealants on teeth to protect them from decay. We advise placing sealants on children's teeth once their first permanent teeth erupt. This aids in protecting their teeth from decay.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns

Crowns are usually full coverage of a tooth or teeth with a dental material usually a precious or semi-precious material. Full coverage of a tooth is indicated when much of a tooth surface is loss due to decay or from fractures due to trauma. Sometimes crowns are done for unsightly discolored teeth due to stains or old fillings that are stained.

Metal crowns usually consists a precious material such as gold. Non-metal crowns can be fabricated utilizing porcelain or acrylic materials, these crowns very closely resemble natural teeth. Combinations of metal and non-metal materials are often indicated in crown restorations requiring strength and aesthetics. Crowns are very useful in improving the aesthetics of teeth.

With our own in-house laboratory, Ray Family & Cosmetic Dentistry can offer crowns in a single day!

Bridges

Fixed Bridges are used to replace missing teeth wherever there is an appropriate tooth or teeth which can be used as an abutment (anchor) for the missing tooth. Bridges are usually made of the same dental materials of a single crown.

Fixed bridges are cemented permanently and cannot be taken out by the patient. They function as the treatment of choice in replacement of teeth whenever they can be used. They are more comfortable, and they look better aesthetically. However they are more expensive to replace than the removal partial denture.

Dentures & Partials

Dentures

The complete replacement of a full complement of teeth either in the upper jaw or lower jaw. We can do both the premium or the economy set of dentures.

Partials

The replacement of missing teeth in the upper or lower jaw while utilizing the remaining teeth to anchor the partial dentures.

The two most common types of partials are the cast partials dentures or the wrought wire and acrylic partial dentures.

The wrought wire and acrylic partial dentures are less expensive and sometimes considered a transitional partial denture before going to complete dentures.

The cast partial dentures are cast framework partials of noble or semi-noble metals and acrylic saddles with cast clasps. It is considered a more permanent replacement of teeth and the cost to construct is slightly more expensive than the wrought wire and acrylic removal partial dentures.

Extractions & Root Canals

Extractions

Routine extraction: Non-surgical removal of teeth.
Surgical extractions: Non-routine extractions that may require removal of alveolar bone, sectioning of the tooth and the use of elevators to achieve the extraction. Soft tissue incision often is required for surgical extractions.

Root Canals

Root canal treatment is an often straightforward procedure to relieve dental pain and save your teeth. Patients typically need a root canal when there is inflammation or infection in the roots of a tooth. During root canal treatment, we carefully remove the pulp inside the tooth, clean, disinfect and shape the root canals, and place a filling to seal the space.
